FROSTY VIEWS❄️ Check out these trees covered in frost! This type of frost is known as soft-rime, forming in fog when supercooled droplets freeze on contact with elevated surfaces.

TIMING🕛 Light precip will gradually move in through Thu. morning, bringing cold rain across south AR w/ periods of sleet and snow across the northern half of AR.

Temps should stay above freezing, though higher elev. in the Ozarks could get a dusting in spots. Stay with the #ARStormTeam. #ARwx

ALERT DAY 👀 Areas of sleet and snow showers will be possible Thursday across central and northern Arkansas while most in southern Arkansas only get a cold rain.

Temps should stay above freezing, but higher elevations in northern AR could pick up a dusting to ½ inch in northern AR. #ARwx

Okay, what would you call the hat I’m wearing on my head? Is this a beanie or a toboggan? 🤔

Either way, it’s been a cold December so far! #ARwx

THURSDAY🌧️🌨️ Another round of cold rain and a light wintry mix moves in tomorrow, along with a bit more moisture than once expected.

Colder air aloft could squeeze out some sleet or snow at times—mainly along and north of I-40... But surface temps stay too mild for travel impacts. #ARwx

There were periods of fog during the night, but looks like we've avoided the most widespread freezing fog overnight.

Thanks to Summer for sharing this picture in Hot Springs around 2 a.m. this morning. It appears some thicker clouds moved in, helping the low-level fog thin out. #ARwx

HEADS UP😶‍🌫️ Areas of freezing fog will be possible as dense fog could develop in temperatures well below freezing Wednesday morning.

This could result in patchy areas of ice on bridges & overpasses. Between this & low visibility, the Wednesday morning drive could be a bit treacherous in spots. #ARwx

THURSDAY 👀 Another light round of precip may sneak in Thursday, but moisture looks even more limited this time.

A few flakes or sleet pellets could mix in, but temps don't look cold enough for impacts for now. Stay with the #ARStormTeam for updates in case this changes. #ARwx

A final round of light precip moves through northwest Arkansas Monday evening on the back side of this system.

It was enough to leave a dusting in spots. Thanks to Dylan Atkinson for sharing this video from Bentonville. #ARwx

LINGERING IMPACTS🧊 Although the precipitation is moving out by midnight, temperatures won't climb above freezing until the sun comes up Tuesday.

So any moisture lingering on bridges and overpasses will freeze if it doesn't evaporate. Travel could still be dicey for the morning commute Tue. #ARwx
December 2, 2025 at 12:51 AM
Lingering areas of drizzle and/or fog will likely contribute to more icing on bridges/overpasses IF it lingers while temps drop below freezing.

Don't let your guard down into tonight. BE ADVISED... Winter Weather Advisories remain in effect through 6 a.m. Tuesday! #ARwx

TIMING🕕 Light freezing rain starts moving in around the morning commute, and will likely linger much of the day with temps just below 32.

Even if we briefly climb above freezing, we will still drop back below freezing into the evening, leaving some icy spots on bridges/overpasses til Tue AM. #ARwx
