American exceptionalism is strong, even outside the US. If this was occurring in another country I don't think people would mince words about what is happening.

(6) Aggressive tactics continue, agents tell protesters that they should have "learned their lesson".

(3) Masked federal agents engage in aggressive police tactics across the city, seemingly randomly checking individuals and asking about their citizenship.

(4) A federal agent murders a women who is observing and protesting these tactics.

I'll be presenting a paper showing that higher levels of confidence that one's own vote will be counted as intended correlates with higher levels of validated turnout among Americans as a whole and among partisans. Confidence that other people's votes will be counted properly doesn't affect turnout.

I think this PNAS article on the general tendency to overestimate the size of minority groups might have big implications for research on correcting second order belief misperceptions.
