Person. Husband. Father. I teach math. I play games. I save my effort for things other than profile bios.
Mechanics were good, flavor was a miss for me personally. I guess it was nice to see a take on horror away from Innistrad?

Hit all the notes perfectly. Great all around set. While we don't need a core set every year, I think a core set that is refreshed every few years is a good idea.

For me this set suffered from two things, being between Foundations and Dragonstorm, and only lightly touching a return to Amonkhet.

Amonkhet is an amazing world that has experienced a lot of change since we last visited. It deserved a full set.

Love Tarkir, probably my favorite world. Great cards overall.

Only negative that I have is story related, why do we have to wait over a year for the continuation of the current M:tG story? If that is the cost of more UB sets, it is too high.

I'm just going to assume that this set was "not for me."

Too expensive for a standard legal set. A set with a UB theme that I really don't care for. Not a fan of the anime-esque art.

I'm glad others are enjoying it, but I will probably grab a few singles, and save my $ for Edge of Eternities!

@maro254.bsky.social , what is the least popular two-color combination?

If we aren't counting plural (i.e.; Zombies in the type line of The Drowned from The Dark), I'll go with Invasion?

Dinosaurs for sure. Pygmy Allosaurus in Ice Age, then the type came back in Ixilan.

For the second, I want to say Dogs, but I think they were mostly Hounds until the change a few years ago.

So Demons as the second? They were removed as a type for a while and then returned.

It is Tempest for sure. I still remember the ad on the back of Scrye with different dishes for each deck. My favorite was the ice cream (white-blue control). It also had a mono-green deck, a blue-black sliver deck, and I believe a mono-red deck?

I know that intent matters, but intent will vary from person to person. And Green is easily one of the best colors in that level 2 bracket. And if you don't think that a say, Craterhoof Behemoth, belongs in that bracket, add it to the list!

Good 1st attempt and I'll be interested to see it develop.

Second, Green, in general seems to have been given a pass. There are plenty of cards in Green that push it out of 2, but as written, are perfectly valid. Worldly Tutor is given a pass, because creatures, but Magus of the Moon is not.

I like the bracket idea, but my main issues are with the Game Changers list.

First, idk how Gaea's Cradle and Serra's Sanctum deserve to be on the same (seemingly based on power) list. To me this would be akin to having Cradle on the same level as Tolarian Academy.

Silvers for sure (although not with the same aesthetic.

I want to say the second is Domain.

This was my first thought. Or potentially Fallen Empires and one of those two?
