Not entirely, but the team play better with him in the side, putting others in better positions, it helps. It's sort of the point of tactics and formations!

They need the side to support them, e.g. winning the ball back high up the pitch helps them get it quickly in dangerous places...

Its not just about absolute quality, its balance, workrate. Stats show it.

Not saying its linear, but there is a clear improvement in outcome! Doing the dirty work might not look pretty, but it's hugely effective.
