🔬 In this new paper, the authors state that single-mask edge illumination x-ray phase contrast micro-CT improves 3D imaging of weakly attenuating samples. The beam is modulated into 'beamlets' aligned to pixel boundaries by the mask, so their refraction-induced deviations can be used to form images.
