Sometimes you just have to take a beat and forget about the future. Sit down and enjoy the view in the company of someone special. (Niederau, Austria)

Hold on, YORKSHIRE is the mother language designed to worship the old gods. We have becks, fells, more thwaites than you can shake a stick at, and we're all as fit as lops. Some of us even have 2% viking DNA (+ or - 2%)!! 🤣

Pupils from Ysgol Llandrillo yn Rhos, together with the 'Friends of Rhos on Sea' and local residents, have been carrying out regular beach litter picks. Over the past year, they have collected more than 100kg of rubbish, helping protect the coastline 💚🚮

Hope is everything...but we're British, right? 🤣

Anyone familiar with Chelmsford will recognise this largely unchanged view by the immensely talented Malcolm Root (reproduced here from his book "Pageant of Transport"). The Harwich boat train 'Naworth Castle' passes through Chelmsford Station.

Late 1940s Chelmsford. A steam loco in green LNER livery crosses the road bridge next to the station. A green Eastern National single deck Dennis Ace bus has just passed underneath, followed by a blue Leyland Beaver truck carrying a tarpaulin-covered cargo.

Bore da. Lucky you...it's very grey in the SE! 🙁☁️

Yes, I can relate to all that! 😧

Not that you're counting down the hours, of course not. 😂

Oh yes...I can still hear it coming into York station just before 11 pm, ready for the long haul to Aberdeen.

"Magnificent York" by Malcolm Root. Text by Tom Tyler. Happy memories! 😊 #dieselgeek #trainspotting #traingeek @dieselgeek.bsky.social

A cracking find today in Saffron Walden - Malcolm Root's "Pageant of Transport". Now for an afternoon of unadulterated reminiscence... 🤔 #transport #art #books

I think this may be the day when I get the urge to howl. 🐺🌕

Tonight, the Harvest Moon rises: the full moon closest to the autumn equinox. 🌕

October’s full moon is also named the Hunter’s Moon, once marking a time to gather food for winter.

It will be the first of three supermoons this year, glowing bigger & brighter.

Moonrise: 19:44*
A close-up of a glowing full Moon, filling the frame against the black night sky. Its surface is marked with craters and rugged textures. This is a supermoon, appearing larger and brighter than usual.

I never got to grips with a slide-rule so I've no intention of going back there! (I was always more of a log tables kind of student). But yes, it is good to be human again. 😊

I think you've opened a battery of worms, Chris! 🔋🪱🤪

So true. I tend to avoid mirrors now (so hate trips to the barber). Having said that I seem to be going through a mid-life crisis just now which means I'm heading for a life-span of 140 and counting. 🤣

I think next Saturday's Barbie might have a different vibe. I do hope so for the sake of my, ahem, hay fever!

She looked stunning...and so elegant. Her hand shaping was, well, it brought a tear to my eyes. 🥹

Haha, same here! Nice isn't it? Have a good day. 🌞

Without doubt the best of Austria's little trains (on a fine day). The Schafbergbahn runs almost 6 km from St Wolfgang up the Schafberg, a rise of 1190 metres in 35 minutes. (Picture from 2023).
Steam locomotive Z14, in red and black livery, stands by the station platform, awaiting a return journey from the top of the Schafberg, Austria.

@dieselgeek.bsky.social For what it's worth, Zara, here's my meagre offering of diesel locos. I'm a steam man at heart. 🥲
