Byrne prices were absurd. About five times the price of Harrison/Belew doing a lot of the same songs, and that was a great gig. I’d like to have seen Byrne, but you have to draw the line somewhere.
When he announced the tour, I thought, he’s 73, this will probably be his last hurrah, maybe he’ll do a career retrospective, maybe even a few Genesis songs, a handful from his brilliant self-titled albums … pretty naive really. When I saw the setlist I wasn’t too regretful at not splashing out.
I still have my Peter Gabriel ticket from the O2 in 2013. It was £50. The exact same seat last year, face value from Ticketmaster, not secondary market or dynamic pricing, £194.
All bar one of the tracks are from 1984 onwards. I think the box set would be overkill, but this selection is a nice companion disc to Live Around the World.
