This is madness

Yesterday on Wolfjaw Mountain.

Did an off trail snowshoe hike with Rich Hanlon today at the northern edge of the Adirondack Park. We discovered some more beautiful big trees, especially this very tall white pine surrounded by a congregation of smaller spruce and hemlock.

Sitting in a coffee shop in Lake Placid reflecting on a couple of amazing off trail hikes to amazing old growth forest.

Today’s tree pilgrimage… one of the tallest trees east of the Mississippi. #oldgrowthforest

The Adirondacks have some of the oldest and definitely the tallest old-growth forest east of the Mississippi. This eastern hemlock is the biggest hemlock I’ve ever seen.
