I buy them by the kilo. When I first moved to Belgium you couldn’t buy them here, and I was bereft. Now you can get them wrapped carefully in pairs from the supermarket or in bulk from a local farm shop (luckily). I think I buy roughly a quarter of the entire country’s production.

Yes but I’ve already cut those parsnips into thin strips, wrapped them in pancetta, drizzled them with maple syrup and roasted them

I’m sorry, left over parsnips? They don’t exist do they?

That’s very restrained! Hope it tastes good

Golly I’ve had mine in for months. How long do you leave it to steep before drinking?

As a nervous teenager, the girl cutting my hair asked if I was having a party. Thought it an odd question but saw an opportunity, invented a Halloween party & said ‘You can come if you like’.
‘No, I asked if you’re having a parting’, she said.
I shrank down in the seat and never went there again.

If you go to Grez Doiceau you will find ‘Rue de Wisconsin’, and both there and in Walhain you’ll find plaques about this migration (and in Namur I assume)

The podcast Cautionary Tales has a really good story about a similar treasure hunt in the USA, although that ended up taking a darker turn. I think the episodes are called The Treasure Hunt that Broke America

It really was! Worth listening to the episodes about The Treasure Hunt That Broke America (think that’s the title) in the Cautionary Takes podcast recently for a similar, but less artistic treasure hunt in the US

And it’s not even December. Blocked and reported

I’m sure that’s true. I came across a plaque in WSL somewhere that talked about the fields of sprouts and endives before it was swallowed up by the city
