Nothing says elite moral failure and lack of core democracy principles than that WP headline. Trump "ordered" the investigation for God's sake.

Wait, wait, I just made a huge investment in coffee and banana production in the US because of these tariffs?!

Movie idea: Wag the Alien: admin creates a fake alien signal and encounter to distract from scandals. Things don't go that smooth.
November 14, 2025 at 10:14 PM
If the Bishops were truly being teachable, they would contrast how previous admin enforcement (eg Obama) was not dehumanizing both in rhetoric and tactics and still consistent with Catholic teaching if they believe it is.
November 14, 2025 at 3:48 PM
That may be one of the best explanations of the dynamics of GOP priorities and media coverage of the last 10 years of US politics I have read.
November 13, 2025 at 6:26 PM
This is an argumentative tactic of the right: they're experimenting with rationalizations that can be widely adopted (see Trump = like Old Testament imperfect king). The next one will be: many of the men say they did not know the girls were under age because they contend a 15 year old can look 20.
November 13, 2025 at 6:22 PM
Yeah did not mean to imply that.
November 13, 2025 at 4:01 PM
That is a real good point, did not think of that.

There are emails I believe with Michael Wolf and information is redacted. Why isn't Wolf releasing those unredacted emails today? He should have his own copy.

"Tax the rich" is counter-productive branding. Small business people and entrepreneurs want to be rich, what's wrong with that and you want those people to support the Dems. Don't make this an anti-rich frame. Focus on a fair deal for all, how the mega-rich are rigging the system for their benefit.

And he nailed my Irish, too, so a double whammy!
November 11, 2025 at 6:14 PM
Exactly right. Progressives often have a shallow view of centrists, as if center-left is unprincipled, wishy-washy, etc. Lots of centrists will embrace a smart progressive policy as they have for decades. Or fix health care or climate, but not with single payer or green deal.
November 10, 2025 at 1:51 PM
That should be the sole political message and emphasis for energy instead of climate catastrophism: create energy abundance and build EV infrastructure.
November 6, 2025 at 6:38 PM
A serious society would unleash a tsunami of ridicule of FIFA and Trump for such a transparently inane stunt. Infantino and Trump should not hear the end of it for months. There goes another institution into the gutter: the peace prize.
November 6, 2025 at 1:07 AM
Leave my Browns out of this!
November 5, 2025 at 8:06 PM
I hope the NFL, the Oscars, Grammys and the NHL are watching and they know what the right thing to do is. Someone we all know would feel really good about himself if he had multiple peace prizes.
November 5, 2025 at 6:24 PM
It is so misguided to define the Dems base as exclusively progressives.
November 5, 2025 at 6:21 PM
"And sir, since the sandwich exploded, would say the defendant purposely hit you with a sandwich that was designed to explode on your chest and potentially cause you grave bodily harm?"
November 4, 2025 at 10:08 PM
They really lack the confidence to simple declare we are big tent party and say we have conservative Democrats in the midwest who would not be the best fit for NYC and social democrats would not be the best for some of our midwest states. Oh, wait, the party has driven out most of those cons. Dems.
November 4, 2025 at 9:48 PM
I sense a new dispatch is coming.
November 4, 2025 at 2:46 PM
Trump admin needs to stop stealing ideas from, like, 30 dystopian science fiction novels. Can't they ever be original?
November 1, 2025 at 10:45 PM
While many Americans may be center-left both them and center-right voters will adopt a progressive policy. We've seen that since the New Deal.
November 1, 2025 at 10:32 PM
Left confuse centrist performative tactics that can often rightly seem compromising for sake of compromising and produces muddled policies versus a solid center-left policy.
November 1, 2025 at 10:31 PM
Left is confused about centrism; like "liberal" it can mean multiple things. Most of the nation is center-left and center-right with a sprinkling of progressivism and libertarian within people's values.
November 1, 2025 at 10:30 PM
Two losses to Trump would be all you need you'd think to make every Dem reconsider every assumption about winning. But seems like progressives believe we need to go more authentically left? Doesn't make sense
