I went to Winnipeg, once, saw those back alleys behind people's homes and thought, "this place is awesome". Then I went to the famous Portage and Main and thought, "am I at the right place?"

I've got two rules of thumb on patriotism. In general, people who hate Quebec hate Canada (e.g. Manning, P). And, as Jen Gerson keeps demonstrating, people who hate Toronto hate Canada. Haven't been wrong yet.

I had to read it because it was a gift. I find it pretty telling that there were so many factual errors that none of the ones I noticed made it into the podcast.

I think it got played a lot at Christmas because they were trying to fill up their schedules with family movies. So people just associated it with the holiday as a result. Just a guess.
