Before I got so concentrated on apex predators like bears and wolves and cougars, I photographed almost every mammal in Canada (I'm only missing belugas, walrus, fishers and bobcats, all of which I've seen, but never gotten shots of). Meet Zeus, another one of the Khutzeymateen's big boys. He's not quite as big or as mean-looking as Reacher, but Zeus put in a hard few weeks worth of work this spring courting three different females, including taking over with Big Mum after Reacher moved on.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, Reacher, the single largest grizzly bear I have ever seen. He's standing in almost 2 foot tall sedge 'grass'!! Named after the 6'5" 250 lb tv character Jack Reacher.
