This door at Eastwood church in Essex dates from about 1150, which is extremely rare. The hinge has an inscription which (more or less) says ‘blessings on those who come and go’.

Mum is in a side room with a bathroom. I love the emergency button in there, the nurse is like something from a carry on film.

Founded by Kathy King in 2022 to open York’s architecture and urban landscape to the public, York Unlocked takes place this weekend. As it says on the box it is a festival that allows residents and visitors to see York in a new way, and aims to educate and inspire a love of architecture.
Holgate Mill is a restored five-sailed tower mill in York, and is the oldest five-sailed windmill in the country. After falling into disrepair, it was restored by the Holgate Windmill Preservation Society and is now a working mill that produces stone-ground flour. This Arts and Crafts-style building was originally built in 1927 as a memorial to Joseph Rowntree and served as a library for factory employees.
