I am fully behind this theory. Americans are, as a group, too comfortable and too poorly educated. More widespread education (especially civic) is the only real solution to this.
There was a theory about this in the Netherlands, that radicalisation was a kind of hobby for some voters who are very comfortable and somewhat bored
