Early stroll. I am briefly defined by a car’s headlights. A red plastic spade leaning against a wall. A passenger on the bus is almost as big as his headphones. It is as though this morning has been found in a secret pocket. That still cat.

Early stroll. Those clouds look like paintings of old snow. Two leaning streetlights like cocktail sticks in a pot. A late/early Christmas tree in a window. Am I on the fringes of that passing motorbike’s dream? I break a puddle’s fragile window.

Early stroll. That dropped sock is a foot long. Blue bins like geometric representations of summer sky. That parked car is usually facing the other way. Birdsong’s vivid aubade. If I name that ill-lit bus shelter as weird it becomes weird.

It’s exactly this kind of dismal, prejudiced bollox from the Daily Mail that’s got us into the ruinous Brexit mess we’re in. What a moronic response to us rejoining Erasmus and all the benefits that brings. If they’re really worried about cost, they should push to cancel Brexit altogether.
