More like regrouping, get the new ICE funding bill passed by having the Dems fold again and then another ICE push to create enough chaos to support invoking the insurrection act.

Weather is chaotic, near term and unpredictable. Climate is consistent, long term and predictable over time. Trump uses the misunderstanding between the two for his personal political ends.

How do say the US is a bully without saying the US is a bully.

I'm surprised that travel is only down 12%. I guess if you already own a property you want to take advantage of it. Live is short, especially for retirees.

Trump is simply a symptom of the US problems.

Funny how running a Regan ad is called foriegn political interference, but supporting a separatist movement in a foreign country is fine.

I'm skeptical. The lack of financial analysis is disturbing. I'd like to see some ridership and operating cost/revenue projections. I'd also like to an analysis of other disruptive technologies could do to ridership.

One would hope that is true but there have numerous projects that have not met expectations. Ottawa's LRT, for example, is not meeting expectations and will require extra taxes on homeowners for at least the next 20 years.

Dont get me wrong. I love trains and take them often. When they work well they are fantastic. That said we need to be hard nosed pragmatic when looking at this project because it could just as easily be another drain on the economy.

Trump is a coward. He's not going to pick a fight with someone with significant and increasing gravitas.

Forget most LLM apps. There is lots of hidden AI(mainly predictive in nature) that works well and is continually getting better. This frees people from Doctors to factory workers to focus on more interesting and value added activities.

Notice how there are never revenue projections that show how this will be economically viable without significant subsidies.
January 21, 2026 at 3:03 PM
High speed rail through out the world has been hit or miss. Look at HS2 in the UK or California's CAHSR. China's high speed rail is only viable due to continued massive subsidies.

How 20th century thinking when the majority of value add was in final assembly. In many industries research, design, tooling and software dominate the overall value proposition. With an assembly tree mindset (vs assembly line) and commonality of parts shorter production runs offer sales advantages.

Just one minor caveat, they're not dispatchable.

Your simple cost analysis excludes the cost of storage, cooling and water.

Trump desperately needs a win as he continues to bleed support, lose control over Congress and watch an economy head slowly into a recession. Dont be surprised if he TACOs to Canada.
December 19, 2025 at 12:51 PM
Yes, Canadians are concerned; however, not concerned enough to buy an EV, heat homes with electricity, stop jetting around the world for vacations or stop buying greenhouse produce in the dead of winter.
December 19, 2025 at 12:31 PM
Extended range EVs still use an all electric drive train. This is the obvious direction for large SUVs and pickup trucks until batteries and charging infrastructure improve. Think of it as an EV with a built-in generator.
