Very nice! I would add to “needing to explain things in a non-partisan way” - and this goes along with the elitist latin thing about the church - the need to explain things in a non-pretentious way. Personally, sir @hankgreen.bsky.social , i think you do that well…but most do not.

i once met a US arms dealer near the end of his fiscal year. he was about to stay at the Ritz for two weeks because of all the travel budget money he had left and had to spend before the year was out or he would “lose” it.

especially when it comes with some condescension. doubt anyone is winning over these voters by 1) assuming to completely understand their motives and 2) telling them they are stupid for, say, not understanding how the economy works.

i think we make a mistake by referring to these millions of people as one “they” and speaking of their interests as singular. it may be necessary to some degree in data analytics but i think it’s a big downfall in our ability to analyze elections and the voters that participated, or didn’t, in them.
