Globalisation is the search for efficiency, globally. The problem is that when you allow a country or region to monopolise an industry then they have ultimate pricing power and political strength over you. It’s not about totemic strength but the fact that short term efficiency isn’t everything.

That’s the point - she did some very necessary things - bullying unions, out of control inflation and a lack of enterprise in the UK of the 70s.

It’s those that followed without adapting those ideas that led to excesses.

I think people expect to be able to buy a home. I think people expect to be empowered at work. I think people expect their kids to have the same opportunities as others,

People feel disempowered as wealth inequality grows. Food and a holiday don’t address that nor does a deteriorating NHS. Feeling that you and your kids are increasingly second class citizens is the problem.

Owen blocked me when I called out his call to harass Starmer. As you say, journalists have not been barred for opposing Labour. I guess calling for Starmer to be harassed and filmed isn’t appreciated

You can argue over language but it’s clear that in this context “controlled” means limited in number not legality.
