Canada and Mexico, together with as many other countries as may wish to, withdraw from the World Cup. These countries then come together to set up an alternative contest which would be played in Canada and Mexico, and perhaps if needed another country or countries could also provide venues.

Whether you’re fixing my car or mending my heart I couldn’t care less what language you speak. In fact, I might even try to learn how to say ‘thank you’ in your language.

Of course it is also the experience of many wealthy British ex-pats living in their enclaves who can barely order a beer in the local language.

So I can only conclude the purpose is simply so as not to offend the sensibilities of those who dislike hearing languages other than English being spoken.

For those who profess to believe in the freedom of the individual, why does choice of language not apply?

It seems to me the only people who might be disadvantaged in some way by not speaking the language are those particular individual themselves, and there are numerous ways to get around this.

including fair treatment for the disadvantaged, empathy and tolerance, a greater tax burden for the wealthy, a rise in NI contributions to finance the NHS, and a strong pro-Europe stance I do think they really could make a massive impact.
