Honestly just disagree re: A. Jones. Utley was a great player, but very, very few players in HOF, especially post-integration, with “just” 1800 hits. I think he is HOF worthy but none of those cases is cut & dried. There are reasonable cases against all those players who seem obvious to you.

Not sure which players you mean, and I think Beltran is over the line, but it is not unreasonable to have a high bar. Andruw Jones, for me, is extremely borderline with a .337 career OBP. Who else?

Actually this ballot doesn’t have a slam dunk; lots of people have had this take. The BBWAA has done a much better job than vet committees have.
