Well, this is quite an issue. A CD of unheard John & Yoko. An exclusive, substantial new Springsteen interview. Prince, Miles, Lucinda Williams, Hendrix, Replacements, Brigitte Fontaine, Congos, Mavis Staples. Such good, diverse writing. Such rich design. It's a classic @mojomagazine.bsky.social 1/2

Lots of egregious things this govt are doing right now, and this maybe isn't the most pressing. But withdrawing funding for the IB in state schools is a petty, low-level, stealth xenophobic way of further isolating the UK from the international community and it stinks. www.change.org/p/oppose-the...

5 goals last year, a season after no central midfielder got one.

I'm OK with it really. Kind of works.

I think it'd be more likely to be Tanaka in for Stach against West Ham. Feels like he only ever wants to risk one properly attacking winger so while Okafor is on the left, Aaronson will be on the right. Then when Okafor gets knackered after an hour and Harrison comes on, he's free to risk Gnonto.

I think there's an option to go a bit more attacking in home games against weaker teams, but we've only seen Everton in that bracket so far - when he played Tanaka over Longstaff of course.

Fantastic writing here.

So good. I don't check on Wet Tuna for a while and there are another half-dozen records to dig into. "Dank, dubby dark magus" pretty much nails this one.

The best thing you can buy today for #BandcampFriday is this new Wet Tuna joint. It’s a dank, dubby dark magus. wettuna.bandcamp.com/album/sound-...

I can hear voices which are clearly technically good, characterful, emotionally compelling, exciting etc but which I don’t like. I used to try and avoid writing about them - there are singers I’ve barely written a word about in 35 years for precisely this reason
johnmulvey.bsky.social
Not liking certain voices for uncertain reasons has always been the hardest thing for me to deal with as a music journalist. It’s often a gut thing which is a nightmare to justify.

I feel weird when I keep going on about a record that everyone else is going on about.

And also be tough enough to take follow-up questions.

Personally preferred it when pop stars actually did substantive interviews and slagged off rivals there, rather than were a bit snide in songs. But obviously I have skin in the game.

Finally someone talking sense. Why so many people are obsessed with the season when everything dies is beyond me.

October and November are the shittest months aren't they?
December would be shit but for Xmas. January and February are shit but spring is just about imminent enough that you feel like you're heading in the right direction.
But these two? Nah, fuck 'em.

Possibly my MOTM on Saturday, great as Stach, Ampadu and DCL were.
