Finally (on third attempt!) picked up the Long-tailed Duck off Chickerell Hive Point in The Fleet about half an hour before sunset - very last minute year tick! So I end the year on 322, comfortably surpassing my target of 309 to beat my previous European best.

Black-winged Kite yesterday brought my year list to 317. Only the second time I've seen this species, as it's uncommon in Madrid, so I'm glad to have squeezed it in this year. #birds

Ferrybridge this evening: 2 LRP, 7 Turnstone, 6 Sanderling, >200 Ringo, >100 Dunlin, Wheatear. Presence of dogs ensured 3 Greenshank left as quickly as they arrived. @portlandbirdobs.bsky.social
