Confessional poet, occasional fantasy writer, sometimes editor, music listener, book reader, shoe enthusiast, moderately tall person, Nessarose apologist, etc. 🍄 🧚🏻‍♂️
Part of me wants to catch up and get started on my fantasy pick — “Son of a Witch” — but I think I should re-read “1984” (and “Animal Farm”) while “Julia” is still fresh. If nothing else, April (poetry) should help me get back on track.
Still behind, but I just finished my “February” (dystopia) pick —
Sandra Newman’s “Julia.” I have mixed feelings, but it was solid over all.
My 2025 Reading Challenge… One book in the listed genre for the month.

Jan: Memoir
Feb: Dystopia
March: Fantasy
April: Poetry
May: Sylvia Plath
June: Biography
July: Science Fiction
Aug: Nonfiction
Sept: Classic
Oct: Horror
Nov: Gothic
Dec: Romance

A significant proportion of the population believed that Joe Biden controlled the weather and immigrants were eating people’s pets, and y’all think that Harris lost that election because she wasn’t “likable”? Please pay just a little bit of attention here, people.

Finally finished the January pick (memoir) for my 2025 challenge! Gonna try to sneak February (dystopia) in there real quick this week 😅

I’m not particularly religious. But there’s a quote commonly attributed to the founder of the Methodist Church, John Wesley, that really sticks with me whenever I hear it — especially lately.

“Where’s Kamala?”

Tf you want her to do? If we wanted her to do something, we shoulda done more to get her elected. But we didn’t.

This is BAD. Buy physical media.
Amazon’s killing a feature that let you download and backup Kindle books
It’s bad if you like to keep ebook backup copies.

Getting real tired of people on the left sitting around doing absolutely nothing and then asking why no one is doing anything lol

Omg they lipsynced Alanis’ “Too Hot” on Canada’s Drag Race. I’m shocked someone signed off on that, but I was living for every second

So I haven’t listened to much Off Hurry Up Tomorrow yet, but what I HAVE listened to sounds SO much like Trilogy & Kiss Land and it’s making me a little emotional 🥲

“Why aren’t people rioting in the streets?”

Well, the street’s right there! Go show the people how it’s done! Or would you rather wait for someone else to do it for you?

So Elon is out here eliminating all the “waste,” so our taxes are gonna go down because the government is spending less money … right? 🤔

Why isn’t anyone doing anything?

WHO? WHAT? HOW?

Y’all thought January was wild?

Now we’re in a trade war with Canada. 🎉

My January album I love but haven’t listened to in a long time: Marina and the Diamonds, ‘Electra Heart’

Imogen Heap’s “Headlock” is going viral and I’m so happy for her 😭

I’m ready for this song to not be relevant in ways that Heap never could have fathomed 20 years ago.

Look: we didn’t need Elon Musk to SH to know that he’s a white supremacist and antisemite. He has done PLENTY to tell us this. Whether or not he specifically adheres to explicit Naziism is immaterial. He’s the same person he was on Sunday.

Don’t be the kind of White liberal that automatically thinks that people who call out “White liberals” aren’t talking about you. (I had to have this conversation with myself.)

Not Gaga and Rosé being seen filming something together only for it to turn out that they just were appearing in a Bruno Mars video

Y’all I’ve been doing all of the anti-authoritarian things for the past decade. Don’t show up now and think you’re gonna tell me a damn thing I don’t know.
January 24, 2025 at 2:45 AM
Books can be propaganda, too. Reading is NOT inherently anti-authoritarian. You’ve actually gotta think about what you’re reading and be selective about what you pick up to begin with.
