Yes, I hear a lot of people were expecting a "Harvest" vibe from the gigs, and they got a totally different parcel of sound. Although, to be fair, the album is now regarded as quite a musical statement.

Yes, it certainly created a lot of debate amongst Dylan fans on its release, both in negative & positive terms. Time has proved that the positive definitely outweighs the negative.
