While I'm not against exacting a high material cost for their activities to drain that orange line it is still possible to hold other spending as leverage against it in continued negotiations.

Get your laughs in but falls like this can cause serious harm, especially when the victim is wearing heavy armor and equipment like these men are. It can cause debilitating injuries if the fall breaks an important bone. A little cooking oil will make ice almost impossible to walk on.

More likely the reduced price point of these capabilities is inspiring them to build their own. Every military (and non-military) technology decreases in price over time to the point where more modest budgets can afford it.

LOTR Duel is great, it replaced 7W Duel in our house since we like the slightly deeper gameplay while still being playable in under an hour.

I do think its possible to find or cultivate the folks you need to do what you want but also think a bit of grace is needed to get folks into the hobby to begin with.

But! Halfway through our campaign one of our players realized she’d written a joke and decided to kill off that character and actually RP. It took her some time but she got there and our group voted to play VTM next so there’s hope! Just gotta work with folks to get there.

Yeah and to some degree you see it because it works. I’ve been playing DnD since it was associated with Satan and my current TTRPG group found it through youtube where its all whacky hats and overly dramatized die rolls. It was a bit painful but I probably wasn’t any better the first time I played.
