Just exactly what that cowardly bastard deserved too. He GAVE US Bobby Kennedy Jr. Knowing full well that the guy was a nutcase whose acts would wind-up killing people, including many, many children worldwide. Worthless sonofabitch. "Doctor Bill Cassidy."

This is as you say, totally different.
Every Dem should be repeating over and over: "We didn't vote for any of this shit. None of us voted for this package of criminal behavior and undeclared wars, ripping away our health insurance, while giving trillions to the Billionaire Class. None of it!
January 15, 2026 at 2:45 PM
Absolutely.
I well remember sitting with my late mother-in-law Fran--child of the Old Albany Dem Machine--listening to the "Defend the Police" rhetoric. We shook our heads and rolled our eyes. "Well, there goes the House." Franny was 100% correct.

Yup. Same thoughts here, Jack.
They are going to be . . . something else.
That's as far as I am prepared to go now, but I think sky's the limit here. LOVE Slaf. Demidov is going to be special. And Kap is just a helluva 2-way center. Like Nicky, I might add. What a 2L! Who imagined?
January 8, 2026 at 9:50 PM
Do, though, Jack. Please do. We need to know these things, to be clear about how it happened--and is happening now. Every literate American and Canadian needs to read these two books now. They are that important.

I couldn't either. Same reason.

Check out his breathtakingly loony and autocratic posts from today. Low class, vile, evil, maniacal sociopath.

I suggest you read: "Takeover" and "Fateful Hours," for answers.

Good one, Nell.

Just appalling. Our poor country.

Habs got hold of Slaf much earlier in his career. Pete wasted youthful time with Detroit, then blossomed in the spring of 1971 when Big Brother Frank came over to MTL, also, in escaping from the Red Wings and Ned Harkness, their GM/Coach at the time.

Agree with you 100% about Danault. He'll be the # 3 center, but a really good 2-way # 3. The timing of that trade was exquisite! Who could have guessed! Now the Habs are strong down the middle and strong defensively at C. And, yes, by all means let Danault instruct Slaf on the FO!
December 29, 2025 at 7:01 PM
Wow! Someone is reading my mind. I had just emailed Jack Todd to say how I keep imaging Slaf as a center. He reminds me of another # 20. I think he's a natural at center, and I think he could be a dominant big man center at that. Not unlike Peter.
That said, I love him with Demidov and now Kap.
December 29, 2025 at 6:56 PM
He's really finding himself, Slaf is. (And, yes, I still say he could make one helluva center. Peter Mahovlich, another # 20!, kind of a big center. But then why try to fix what works!)
December 29, 2025 at 6:52 PM
That said, I am really impressed with how Slaf and Demidov and now Kap work together. This team may actually--and soon--have two great offensive lines. And two great PP units. With Hutson and Dobson alternating on the PP. Slaf might be the key to both units, point on one, wing on the other.
December 29, 2025 at 6:52 PM
Another of the reasons I really like Jon Cooper.

BTW: Speaking of like: I think Nicky is just a helluva player. He reminds me, seriously reminds me, of Dave Keon. Indefatigable. And a genuinely great two-way center. Much as I like Slaf, he never seemed to me a perfect fit for Nicky and Cole.
December 29, 2025 at 6:46 PM
I am having the exact same thoughts this morning, Jack. I've pretty much given up on Dach as a center, but he's a big boy and definitely worth trying on the wing on 1L. I also think we need to give some cred to Kapanen. He's a good fit with S and D--and a genuine 2-way center.
December 29, 2025 at 3:58 PM
Amen, saith this American liberal Dem to his Canadian Liberal friend. Good man!
December 27, 2025 at 6:20 PM
I'll vote for that! The lemon sorbet, that is!
But don't forget the Sauternes or the Loire Côteaux du Layon with the dessert--or the cheese! A fine Blue--a Stilton--would do the trick.
December 27, 2025 at 6:15 PM
Interesting—and respectful. Thanks. I have great confidence in this management group, so we'll see. They have a lot of options since the team is now, I think, really stocked with talent. Best management since Serge, maybe, probably since Sam ran things.
December 27, 2025 at 6:12 PM
TOTALLY TRUE.

Another big reason to believe in the future of this organization.
December 27, 2025 at 6:05 PM
Totally agree. On all counts!
November 24, 2025 at 12:13 AM
Many thanks.

John Bowie Ferguson and Ted Harris put a stopper on Toronto's capers viz beating the hell up on the smallish Montreal forwards. And, though Harris was gone, Fergie was still carrying the torch in the 1971 QFs against Boston. He made a big time difference. I ask Derek Sanderson.
November 23, 2025 at 6:33 PM
Wholeheartedly agree, Jack. As I've said before, when Sam Pollock inherited the Habs in the early-mid-1960s, they were a hugely talented but small team. Almost the first thing Sammy did was go out and get John Ferguson and Ted Harris. Four Stanley Cups in five years followed. Cannot be overstated.
