The Truth Is Uncomfortable No offense to Jeffries and Schumer, but the truth is uncomfortable: the last effective guardians of the American Constitution are not in Congress — they are in the Pentagon. The generals and flag officers, through discipline and quiet fidelity, preserve the line between lawful authority and tyranny. Their resistance is not political; it is constitutional. Until the civilian branches recover their courage, the safety of the republic rests — unfairly but unavoidably — on those who still understand that loyalty to the Constitution is not treason. But capitulation most certainly is.

They have inverted the digestive system of democracy—an act that, if not stopped, will kill the host. History remembers such moments not as comic farce but as preludes to collapse. The Senate was once called the world’s greatest deliberative body. Now it resembles a petting zoo of obedience, where intelligence is a liability and loyalty the only food allowed. The Epstein scandal isn’t just about the crime of trafficking and raping children. Though, that would be bad enough. No. It was about building leverage. The fear of exposure keeps many rich and powerful men quiet. That’s how Trump holds so many in check: he promises reward to the loyal and ruin to the disloyal. Epstein is the stick. The greed is the carrot. So yes, I can make sense of Trump. He’s not a genius, not a savior, not even a good liar. He’s a tool—used by men who play a deeper game. Once you understand that, everything about him becomes clear. His chaos is the point. His job is not to lead, but to destroy. The outcome depends on which side’s constraint fails first. If democratic norms break before executive overreach does, autocracy stabilizes as the new equilibrium. If the constitutional immune system reasserts itself first, the disequilibrium of dictatorship collapses and the Republic resets at immense cost. Either way, the equilibrium must yield. What remains constant is the geometry: competing players locked in mutual paralysis, each trapped by the rationality of their own fear, awaiting the move that may well shatter the board.
