Summer's into overtime in the outback: Trees still leafing, flowers still flowering, sunshine keeps sunshining. And tonight sees a good moon rising with the Canada's honking and a lone great horned hooting. Love this time of year.
Almost full moon rising through thr trees. Sunshine and autumn trees in the grassy valley. Flowers in a shady garden.

Salt Spring Island. Where organisation & volunteerism and "buy / sell local" is next level. AND it's full of farmstands for everything from fruits and vegetables to jams, cut flowers and clothing. It's an honour system where you leave cash. Amazing.
Cash box and bowl filled with change for honest customers at a farmstand. Chalk board with payment instructions and info. Farmstand with knitted sweaters adorned with apples for sale at side of road.

They like cabbage with stuff on the westernmost coast...the Tacofino fish taco and the Japanese okonomiyaki street food from Toki Doki were as awesome as awesome can be. (surprise: pairs well with a brew)
Full pint from Tofino Brewing Co. Photo taken at a picnic table, at the brewery, beside a food truck, surrounded by flowers.

The Leaf, surrounded by changing leaves, in a town that loathes the Leafs (though there are far too many who love da Leafs - we'll leave it at that).
Odd shaped building stands out in a park surrounded by urban and natural forest in autumn colours. Downtown on horizon: good from far but far from good.

Sučas--Tree. Land holder lesson.
Teach your children well...
Large tree rising through the rainforest. Sign with artistic rendering of trees on slopes:
Sučas--Tree
Time-tested insights are embedded within languages, providing knowledge and guidance. For example, Sučas is the Tla-o-qui-aht name for a tree, meaning land holder. As the name implies, without trees, landslides may occur. The name itself holds the teaching, which has been demonstrated in deforested areas around the wor ld.
The Tla-o-qui-aht constitution, traditional teachings, oral history, and
rights and responsibilities are-documented and encoded in traditional art forms, and are exemplified by nature.
The international phonetic ,alphabet (PA) is being used as a modern-day way to write the sounds of the Nuučanut.

Help strengthen my faith
Touch the earth
Where you feel the pain
Bring rebirth
Let me live again

In July I was hanging around the Atlantic & the Trans-Canada's Mile Zero / memorial to Terry Fox in St. John's. Now, I've made it all the way across the country to the Pacific and...Mile Zero...
Before moving to BC, Terry went to Wayoata Elementary School in Winnipeg. Long may he run!
