Speculation about Andy Burnham’s return & a leadership challenge is bad for Labour & more importantly, the country.

We should back the Prime Minister as he leads the team delivering renewal for our county.

The 🌞 was shining on a 🥶 day in Rugby today - meeting residents, listening, explaining about what we’re doing locally and nationally to help people & to build a better 🇬🇧

My view: Labour must avoid a return to the chaos of leadership challenges that we saw under the Conservatives. We should get behind the PM to deliver a more prosperous and fairer country.

It was lovely to be at the carol service at St Edith’s Church in Monks Kirby.

Thanks for inviting me.

We need a #RealManosphere to counter toxic content from people like Andrew Tate. Being strong does not mean being mean. And I will keep defending trans people's right to live with dignity. Kindness, empathy and fairness must guide us.

Met with Transport Minister to make the case for Gibbet Hill roundabout funding and road safety action. With DIRFT and Magna Park expanding, we need this junction upgraded. I have written to the Roads Minister urging its inclusion in RIS3 funding.

Reform UK may think they own patriotism. They don't. Our Labour government has pride in Britain rooted in decency and renewal, not division. We are an incredible country and don't need Reform to tell us. True patriotism means investing in communities, not grievance politics.

As Shabana Mahmoud makes clear, Keir Starmer is “not going”. He’s getting on with his job, and ministers, the parliamentary Labour Party & the WHOLE Labour movement need to focus every second of being in government on delivering for our country

Great to ✊ 🚪 in New Bilton with our excellent candidate for next May’s council election Cllr Angela Thompson. Good conversations with residents about local & national issues.

Proud to join the cross-party Parliamentarians for Peace vigil at Westminster this week. 77 years since the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and its call for equality, freedom and justice matters more than ever.

Congratulations to all the staff & talented students at Rugby High Secondary for their stunning production of High School Musical.

Thanks for the kind invitation. Due to unforeseen circumstances I wasn’t able to be there but my team were and said it was brilliant. I’ll come to the next show!

I met the Culture Secretary this week to discuss Rugby's young people. The new 10-year National Youth Strategy brings £500m investment, 250 youth centres and support for 500,000 more young people to access a trusted adult. I'm pushing for our constituency to benefit.

Housing management companies raise fees above inflation with little oversight. I'm working with Labour for Leaseholders to tackle FirstPort's exploitative practices in Rugby and protect homeowners from overcharging. Contact my office with your story.

I've backed a single unitary authority for Warwickshire. The evidence is clear: a single authority would save £57m for frontline services, while splitting would worsen finances by £11m and leave Rugby significantly disadvantaged. Read my full letter: johnslingermp.substack.com/...

We have the tools to end HIV.

The government's new HIV strategy includes home testing kits via the NHS app, anti-stigma training for hospital staff, and a national programme to support people accessing life-saving treatment.

The Prime Minister, Chancellor, and Energy Secretary spent over two hours in Rugby today, going table to table at the Benn Partnership Center to hear directly from local residents about the Budget.

Great to see Rugby on The Times and the BBC News, and making national and international headlines.

Lovely community spirit.

Good to talk to Rev Martin Faulkner, meet people, chat to stall-holders (buy 🍯 Revel Pharmacy) & enjoy a lovely cuppa and cake made baked and served by the wonderful team.

Thanks!

In Men's Mental Health week, I joined the Back and Forth (@backandforthmmh) podcast. Key message: men and boys need to talk, not bottle up feelings. Small actions like a walk or run with someone can make a real difference. Listen here: open.spotify.com/episode/7h...
