Also, fwiw, there is a real threat of domestic insurgency - but it’s from far-right Active Clubs that quietly recruit young men to indoctrinate and give tactical training.

I understand you want something more forceful to be done. But I think Walz is exactly right when he says there’s immense power in protest and documenting the abuse by the federal government. This is also the best case yet for MN to prosecute ICE’s actions today - i.e., unpardonable prosecution.

If the MN NG is mobilized to police federal law enforcement, the Trump Admin will invoke the IA, try to federalize the same NG, and deploy out of state units to MN. That scenario does not stop what’s happening on the street. It also creates the chaos Trump likely wants to interfere in midterms.

I don’t think that’s the answer. I think the Trump Admin wants that to invoke the Insurrection Act.

Something I think about often is that there are 240m eligible voters, of which 150m voted in the last election, 77m voted for Trump, and plenty voted for Trump for misguided but understandable reasons. I have hope there are an awful a lot of Americans watching this admin in increasing disgust.

Fair points. I can see where Dems can go from here, but I think my biggest issue is the lack of leadership. If Dem leadership’s position was 1) shutdown untenable, 2) extract min concessions and position for later battle, and 3) pass buck of health care costs to Rs ahead of midterms, should have…
