You can tell from the traffic on Google Maps that Sligo Creek is flooding New Hampshire Avenue, like it did several years ago.

Good morning! I found Twinleaf (Jeffersonia diphylla) behind our yard. Probably planted by a past resident — it’s not been recorded in the wild in Prince George’s County. But still a cool surprise! Looks like I missed the flowers — maybe next year.

My friend and I used to call this the “intersection of death” when we used the bus stop daily, before they put in a traffic light and this SPEED KILLS sign. Check out the blood drops! At Eastern Ave NE and Randolph St NE, Washington, DC.

On Saturday afternoon I recorded a Song Sparrow singing very quietly in the greenbriar patch behind our yard. This is not normally a quiet species, but this bird seemed to be warming up. The next morning there was a Song Sparrow singing at full volume. They are getting ready for spring.
