🌊 Today in @nature.com: Is the AMOC on the brink of collapse?

Unlikely before 2100—but the risks are real 🚨

We find Southern Ocean winds keep this vital ocean "heat engine" running, even under extreme #climatechange. But the Pacific holds a surprise…

That view going along the coast past Teignmouth and Dawlish is stunning. One of my favourites. But you are now going to have to post some from #Malaysia - decent scenery here too!

Imagine the moment when someone said - you know what, why don’t we stick sensors in orbit around the earth to measure our environment. And satellite remote sensing was born.

Could this be as transformational? An exciting prospect.

🌊 I forget the #ocean #wave - unforgivable for this post particulary!!
johsid.bsky.social
You wouldn’t go out in that today - but you don’t have to because todays’ weather and wave forecasts are way better.

Why? Because scientists measure, understand and then predict the environment.

Sir David Attenborough says it so eloquently. The biggest threat to security and prosperity is the challenge of a changing climate. We need to make sure that message is heard by everyone.
matthewtodd.bsky.social
The devastation on its way is unimaginable - like nothing humanity has ever witnessed before - and everyone will wish they had been climate activists and ‘hysterics’ when they had the chance. We are in a moment of unprecedented stupidity
