@johtotimes.bsky.social nails it on the head again. The slower pace and more thoughtful posting style of forums leads to healthier/less centralized and therefore unmoderatable discourse. It's not just old-Internet aesthetics, it's a more civil platform.

Do you plan to carve some Pokémon pumpkins this spooky month? If so, please consider sharing them with us on our new forum!

If we get enough of them, perhaps we can feature them on the website too!

Here's one submitted to us back in 2023 by one of our readers

Hey! I absolutely love these plates! I have seen them around previously but I think it's really cool that you have them after all these years

They're still in great condition too! I imagine they're exclusively decorative though, right?

We soft launched the Johto Times community forum the other day, and we think we are about ready to share the link a bit more widely!

Check it out here:

A screenshot of the Johto Times forum, with lots of different sections to post in.

The Johto Times category mostly covers our newsletter content and relevant community announcements, while the Pokémon board covers pretty much everything about the series.

The community forum is a place where you can share your memories of the series, your collections, your creative side, and check out the different Pokémon fan communities both online and defunct.

I cannot publish here the response that I have given to companies like this, it would be VERY unprofessional of me :P

I purchased some more Pokémon comics recently! I already had two issues of Surf's Up Pikachu, but I needed 1 and 3.

I probably overpaid on Pikachu Shocks back, but overall I am happy and they didn't break the bank.

Now to get the remaining issues I still need!

Raise your hand, who loves forums?

Or message boards?

Or community boards?

Whatever you called them, I want to hear your memories of using them.

It's sad that communities die, but I understand. People get older and move on with their lives.

But what I also like is that despite time passing, you can login and say hello again! Especially if it's a close knit group
johtotimes.bsky.social
That's great to hear, i'm very happy that the forum helped you make a good friend! I love that Serebii forums are still up and running all these years later, and I thank @joemerrick.bsky.social for keeping that up and running, despite people preferring social media these days.
johtotimes.bsky.social
I love that such strong connections between others in a community, have led to you meeting and forming some good friendships on and off the forum. That is super special!
johtotimes.bsky.social
Agreed, it's nice to discuss a shared interest and make friends! It's a shame that social media took over, and we opted to use it almost exclusively, rather than let them co-exist
johtotimes.bsky.social
I absolutely love this, the fact you have stayed in touch all these years is something very special indeed.

I used GameFAQs so much back in the day, those guides were well written, and a lot of love and passion went into them.

Thanks very much, he is indeed very cute! I wanted a Johto Pokémon to represent the site. I also didn't want an overly powerful Pokémon, and I love birds!

Natu was perfect!
