Retired. Hiking is my thing.
I’m 72, my husband is 74. We are both vibrant and living very full lives. We live in a place filled with outdoor activities including hiking, mountain biking, cross country skiing, backpacking. It’s what keeps us happy and healthy.

We started Plan N in Jan 2024 at $155/mo each. It went up to $198, and then to our current rate of $219. It really makes hard to financially plan for the long term.

Also, your supplemental rate is determined by where you live. I live in a rural, remote area of eastern Washington state. Only 2 insurers will cover our area so no competition. Living in a big city helps as there are more insurers. We ended up with AARP United Healthcare.

It doesn’t change based on age. By limited coverage I mean no dental, vision, or hearing coverage. We also have to first pay the Medicare annual deduction for Part B which is going up from $257 this year to $288 next year before coverage kicks in, and we pay a $20 copay per office visit.

Starting Jan 1, Medicare goes up from $188 to $204 per mo/each. My Medicare supplemental Plan N is $219 each and we will see an unknown increase next April. This year my supplemental started at $198 and increased 10.6% to $219.

Your voice is more powerful than threats from a weakening, unpopular president. If they hear enough from you now, legislators may still do the right thing.
