I haven't been in the mood to watch videos in a while, but I just watched a 20-minute tutorial portrait by Chris(?) Forza (Forza43) that makes me want to go back and update all my recent paintings. Really smart and simple but a complete rethinking of my approach.

Here is an interesting portrait study in shadow, using different colors. I love this, though I really doubted it along the way.

She might be someone you recognize, but I took liberties with hair colour and skin tones, so it is more of an invention than a capture of likeness. Regardless, it is a painting of a woman with reddish-brown auburn hair and brown eyes and pinkish-blueish pale whitish skin.

This is the third time I've ever tried to paint a self-portrait. And the first time, I didn't paint it over partway through.
