The history of capitalism has shown that businesses will destroy the economy and/or environment if left unregulated. You can fix yourself all you like, businesses will still do bad as along as people in power let them.

That may or may not be true, but I don't think that is worth crippling the environment and our economy. In a just society (not controlled by billionaires) we would be regulating the proliferation of data centers and be providing controls to opt out of this bullshit.
