Oh and they cut all open engineering headcounts by 50% because of AI. But they told us it was not to save money, but some other nebulous reason.

My last job (at a prominent music streaming company) didn't go quite this far, but they are only hiring people who are passionate about AI now, and they quickly added (AI written - they bragged about this) requirements about using AI to the requirements to getting a promotion. Tech is cooked.

I really loved Od Nua. Felt a lot like Watchers Keep in BG2... a place you could go back to and clear a few levels in-between other stuff. Having a base with events like Caed Nua is also great (again, reminds me of the strongholds in BG2). I miss these aspects in RPG's that don't have them 🥲

I love itch but lets be clear: they fucked up by throwing many of their creators under the bus with (afaik) no information or explanation. They weren't playing 4d chess, they panicked. And now they're trying to fix it, which is great.
