Richard's Bicycle Book (70s?) covers defending yourself against dogs in some depth. This book was my bible when I started cycletouring in the early 80s.

Simple solutions often aren't as simple as they first appear. Here the issue is that if you want to claw back from taxation you would end up requiring many older people to complete tax returns who have never done so. @danneidle.bsky.social has a thread on this.

As an old fogey I thought I would much prefer plain text. But actually I found the scrolling style very easy to read - and read quickly without skipping bits.

IME it was the 3rd condition that was not well known. This was newish code that coped with leap years and incorporated your 2nd condition. So it was a y2k specific problem (assuming the code isn't still knocking around somewhere in 2400 🤔).

I remember seeing quite a few websites displaying incorrect years on 1 Jan. 20100 instead of 2000 for example. "new" code was faulty too!

I worked in software testing in the late 90s. We tested both old and new software for date related bugs at the time. We found plenty. It was never about just 2 digits for the date but a host of related issues that we were looking for. New bugs included coders not realising 2000 was a leap year.

It's a really good website that I was completely unaware of until I moved here and started following people I knew from the other place. The difference here is that it's easy for me to see posts from people such as yourself even if you're not in starter packs.
