I used to fly quite often with work. Sometimes the weather would be kind, and the approach route into Heathrow would take us over "the city of London" - I could never understand why everybody else wasn't filling their phone with photos too...

The city can be beautiful when it wants to be... #london

Exciting work trip into the heart of the city tomorrow. I wonder what I'll forget to take with me? #london

Note to self - probably best to avoid Forbidden Planet in London - it tends to empty my bank account frighteningly quickly. #comics #books

Boldly going to London :) #startrek

My mission is complete :) Lotus Organiser, running on Windows 3.11, running on Dosbox-x, running on a Raspberry Pi 500 :) #retro #raspberrypi #tech

I'm guessing this isn't the best use of a Raspberry Pi 500 either (running Word 97 in Windows 98SE in dosbox-x on the Pi500) :) #raspberrypi #retro #tech #emulation

What do you mean, this isn't what a Raspberry Pi was designed for? Doesn't everybody run Word 5.5 in a Dosbox session, for no apparently reason, and then struggle to justify themselves? #retro #raspberrypi #tech

Who would have thought when I started sharing videos with friends on YouTube a few years ago that so many would start following me on my journey - learning about flight, aviation, navigation, communication, and everything in-between. It's been huge fun, and continues to be :)

I've got a fully functional iMac from the late 1990s hidden in my attic - a late night ebay discovery. It had sat in a school storage cupboard for 25 years, untouched. The last time it came out was for a (successful) attempt at NaNoWriMo about 10 years ago - running Scrivener. Note the ZIP drive :)

You know the one where you buy a Raspberry Pi 500, and then turn it into every old computer you had or wanted, but have no actual use for any of it ? :)

Merry Christmas to all - wishing you health and happiness (don't play monopoly!), wherever you are :)

Once upon a time I used to empty my head into paper journals that went everywhere with me. Somewhere along the way the paper journals got replaced my mobile phones and laptops. I can't help feeling that something has been lost... (and yes, that's my handwriting in the picture) #writing

Welcome to the "junk room" - my work-from-home bolt-hole, where most of the keyboard bashing, swearing, and head scratching happens :)

After posting the entirely predictable "Hello, World" as a first toe into the Bluesky waters, guilt finally got the better of me.

Hi. I'm Jonathan. I work as a software and web developer, pretend to write a blog, also pretend to run, and like terrible movies and music a bit more than I should.
