I think it's funnier - especially in context - if there is no explanation as to why her shirt is suddenly ripped. Its just the rules of the genre.

The "Batman branding people" bit appears in several other Batman scripts from other writers that never saw the light of day. I assume its one of those "one producer is obsessed with the idea" things, like the mechanical spider that ended up in Wild Wild West. Also, its The Phantom's thing.

It's one of those borderline ones, like Pern, or Janny Wurts' Cycle of Fire. I think its science fiction but told from the viewpoint of someone from a significantly less advanced culture

There's a soap opera in New Zealand called Shortland Street. Taika Waititi is about the only kiwi actor who *hasn't* appeared on that show.
But yeah our entire population is only 5.2 million...
