I just meant more from a shot perspective from Gykores. Surely you have to receiving something relatively on point pass wise to release a shot. He doesn’t seem to receive those in the slightest. 🤷‍♂️
Saliba was very complimentary of him in a recent interview mentioning going up against him last season.

To be a priority. I think he’ll come good unlike every single person who support this club. I just don’t think other players are used to finding an out and out number 9 in their sights.

No doubt I’ll be damned for daring to critique Saka but wide players need to do more. And Oedegaard.

I love Saka, genuinely love him, he’s amazing, but i honestly think he’s been given such an easy ride this season. This didn’t just happen yesterday, he doesn’t get ball into Gyokores quick enough consistently. I’m not saying gykores should not have been criticised but teammates finding him more has

He’s 18. This drop off is normal.

Whilst I agree there does need to be more on a goal scoring level, you can’t be top of two leagues and be a passenger. Which is the suggestion of certain individuals. #arsecastextra

Get a grip ffs.
January 11, 2026 at 2:59 PM
I’m not saying you should agree I’m just giving you examples and context to be open to. To say he’s not trying isn’t really true is it. Otherwise Arteta would hook him sooner. Anyway let’s hope things improve more for him.
January 10, 2026 at 1:11 PM
As a side note Chris Wood isn’t as talented as Gyokores but scored a bag of goals for forest last season. But it took a season for them to work round him and vice versa. Football analysis and criticism has become way too hipsterish.
January 10, 2026 at 1:03 PM
Where’s the same energy for Isak? Similarish scenarios apart from the fact Isak shouldn’t have needed time to adapt. And one goal. I mean also Wirtz is supposed to be a savant footballer isn’t he? Apparently he needs time to adapt. Should he get that time, yes.
January 10, 2026 at 12:59 PM
Now I’m not comparing Bergkamp with Gyokores in terms of ability. But time it took to adapt. It varies for everyone. Not having a pre season I think was big for him. I think he needs to be taken out of firing line. And come on as a sub for a while. It’s what should have happened to begin with.
January 10, 2026 at 12:59 PM
Sure but you’re feelings about it are made more heightened by all the noise from the numerous podcasts and football related media you no doubt consume. You probably would have felt exactly the same way about Bergkamp when he joined. It took him 8 or 9 games to score just first goal when he joined.
January 10, 2026 at 12:59 PM
Fan bases particularly the club we support are far to honed in on Instant gratification. Social media has ruined potential. Don’t do it to your own players. It’s classless. If we were 4th I may think differently but we’re not. He hasn’t been a passenger since he’s come in, you can’t in this league.
January 10, 2026 at 12:03 PM
Again, it’s always something that can be improved on in the environment he’s in. Arteta is the perfect coach for him. He left Saliba and Gabriel when we played them in the Champions League for 90mims. The fan base thought Merino was useless for about a season until it clicked for him.
January 10, 2026 at 12:03 PM
It’s nothing to do with hunger. It’s familiarity.
January 10, 2026 at 11:40 AM
And you think Arteta with his standards would let him on the pitch if he was in poor condition.
January 10, 2026 at 9:56 AM
Maybe he’s bogged down from a fan base who are over scrutinising him every second. Maybe let him form partnerships and he’ll come good. Allow him the time. A new country and new league. Let the actual experts help him.
January 10, 2026 at 9:54 AM
Thanks for the nuance.
January 9, 2026 at 12:12 PM
Just don’t give up on him.
January 9, 2026 at 10:56 AM
We’re not top of two leagues despite Gyokores. I wish people wouldn’t fall under this hipster model which seems all the rage. If we were battling for 3rd or 4th spot this could be a suitable discussion. I feel this discussion is totally unnecessary at this moment. Let him play with a partner
January 9, 2026 at 10:56 AM
I’m probably the only person who disagrees with the majority on this particular subject. It seems to be everyone’s favourite play thing. Gone are the days where players can learn a new system and gradually improve. It’s we need instant gratification to be convinced whether you’re good.
