The Ethnic religious and ‘racial’ origins of immigrants (like me) are not nearly as important to the state as their contribution to the economy, culture and society. We need workers at all levels to keep us going. Welcome them!

So no priority given to those fleeing persecution? Surely this is against international law? First generation immigrants sometimes contribute less. But their children and grandchildren contribute more.

I actually saw a young man with hiccups in A&E. A nurse assured me that hiccups can cause internal damage. No idea if this is true

If there is some over-diagnosing there is certainly some under diagnosing. It’s a mixed picture.

Obviously that doesn’t apply to narrative poetry!

My advice to young writers approaching their first book is ‘tell the truth and lie about it’. Poetry however is just ‘tell the truth’
