Thinking about it, technically speaking I think the band I’ve seen most often is Eat Static, but I was at Uni in Bristol in the early 90s, and they seemed to turn up to *everything*. Go to buy some milk, Eat Static are playing the local Tesco, etc.

Don’t want to compound the jealousy, but we now live about an hour from where they all live in & around Amherst, MA. and so get to go to their pre-tour wamup gigs. Seeing J with his full amp stack in a room the size of a small pub is quite something…

So, went to this, Brixton ‘92. Knew three of the bands, but had never heard of Dinosaur Jr. Thought I’d give them 10 minutes before going to the bar. 34 years later they’re the band I’ve seen the most often, the band I listen to most often, and now my kids love them too.

With all the chaos and uncertainty in the world right now, there’s something comforting about Palace being back in their customary 12th position. #cpfc

Irrespective of whether we believe the inflation numbers, surely unless inflation is at 0% then prices will go up? That's what inflation means - if inflation is 5%, that means things will get 5% more expensive every year, no?

Couldn't agree more. 2016 was a rough year, but that album was like the perfect gift that made it all ok. I'm devastated.

So. Firstly, I was absolutely bowled over by Spent Light. It's wonderful. Secondly, I was directing this ☝️to one of the hosts of Athletico Mince, a podcast in which a (fictitious) version of Sting regularly appears. Lastly, these are two threads of my cultural life that I never expected to cross.
