LBJ, who was an accidental president and effectively had four opposition parties in Congress (liberal republicans, conservative republicans, northern democrats, southern democrats) and passed the Civil Rights Act. Great leaders make the impossible possible. Obama was not a great leader.

Yup and passing watered down legislation as your signature achievement gets you a well deserved C. We rank people based on what they did, not what they wanted to do.

I don’t see how prosecuting Nixon would have any deterrent effect on bush and Trump. The pardon is discretionary and not automatic; Biden obviously didn’t use it and Obama had no occasion to.

We do. There is a gulf between “being a monster” and “also acting like a monster in public” which needs to be accounted for when we do these types of rankings.

I get it but it diminishes the brutality of trump and bush to smush so many people at the bottom. Ford made a very bad decision but he was not a warmonger or insane fascist
