"Crimes against the United States" vs "Crimes against x state" are simple to understand:

If it's a federal crime, pardonable by POTUS, the caption is "United States v defendant"

If it's a state crime, pardonable *only* by that state's Governor, the caption is generally "Colorado v defendant"

Today was the last day for Candidates to file for a place on the ballot for the March 3, 2026 Primary in Texas. I am exhausted, but joyful. Every race in the county has a Democrat in the Primary, and for the first time in 1 or 2 decades, every statewide office has a Democratic challenger.
