Smollett is sort of the go-to translation. Literal in nature as it may be, it's pretty good. If you enjoy it, may be worth a second read of a more modern "spirit of the work" translation like Burton Raffel's.

My recipe below learned over the last 8 years of living in TN
A screenshot of a recipe for Corn casserole Ingredients: 1 box Jiffy honey cornbread mix 1 stick butter (salted) 1 ¼ cups sugar 5 Tbs. honey 6 oz. sour cream 1 can sweet corn (15 oz - drained) 1 can creamed corn (15 oz) 2 eggs Optional: ½ cup shredded cheese 1 small can diced chiles/jalapeños 3 tablespoons honey Recipe: Pre-oven to 350° Melt stick of butter in microwave safe mixing bowl Add sugar to melted butter. Stir to incorporate, and set aside to cool (approx. 5 min) Add Jiffy mix, sour cream, can of corn, and can of cream corn to butter & sugar mix. Stir thoroughly. Crack two eggs into batter, stir until fully mixed in. Grease bottom and sides of 9x13, or deep 8 inch round dish. Pour mixture into pan. Bake approx. 45 - 90 min, or until knife inserted into center comes out clean

Philosophy Major me has retaken solace in Voltaire. Strong recommend a read through of Candide. "We must cultivate our own garden" has rang in my ears for years along with my university motto:

We're similar there. I'm a 6'6" former basketball player, grew up playing ball in some of the roughest places you can imagine. Learned early there's no rules in a street fight except one, avoid it if you can. If you can't, end it.

If you've ever heard Eric Church's "Guys Like Me" the first verse pretty much sums up who they wish they were, and attempt to imitate.

You can instantly spot the guy who "don't like to fight, but ain't scared to bleed" in any situation. They're the quite one trying to keep things cool
