Never left my vocab as something to be proud of. To me being woke just means I'm not blind to discrimination.

Well if it's practical to visit Austin let me know. I'd be happy to meet up and we have a great friendly pub for watching the Reds.
Traveling back on Thanksgiving doesn't sound like a ton of fun tho.

Going home before the Forest game?

Didn't realize your parents lived in Florida.
Seriously though that is scary. Hope everything is on its way to being sorted now

And when Michael Oliver is paid to work for the state that owns one of the clubs that is statistically shown to get more of these subjective calls their way what does anyone expect fans to think?

There's enough wiggle room in the rules and as you say the guidance they're given beyond the rules that they can justify most controversial calls so what are fans to do?
When people like Paul Tomkins do extensive data analysis to prove that rules aren't being applied equally they're dismissed.

Also the penalty for Doku in this game. Ref watched the whole thing closely and didn't give anything. The contact is so minor and the ball is already gone into a group of players. But they find a way to justify it.

But to my prior point they clearly re-refereed the game to give that penalty against Van Dijk against Brentford. It is never clear that the contact was on the line and I'm pretty sure that it would never be given as a foul if the ref thought it was in the box.

Personally I think the offside rule is a disaster since they changed it. To me you should be immediately offside if the ball goes remotely in your direction as you are definitely interfering with play in some way.

Pretty much agree with everything in that article. Obviously when you have something already subjective and then frustration comes when they seem inconsistent about the amount of time and angles used or whether they bother with worrying about re-refereeing the game.

Gaslighting

Didn't watch the game so can't argue with you personally but the stats seem to suggest Spurs were the better team. What did I miss?
