So this happened less than a foot away from me this morning. I can’t decide if the soundtrack should be Mortal Kombat or Let’s Get It On. #hummingbirds #birds #nature #naturephotography

There was a total lunar eclipse the other day. I was very excited to see it and potentially get a few photos. Unfortunately, because there was an interesting astronomical event, NJ weather obliged as it usually does.

Still haven't gotten the rig outside. Here's an image I did of NGC 3718. It's a rather interesting galaxy, reminiscent of Centauras A. Just over 17 hours LRGB with my 8" EdgeHD and 294MM Pro.

How does taking pictures of birds turn into astrophotography? Well, one evening I was tracking a bird in flight and saw the moon. Thought to myself, "I wonder if I can take a picture of the moon". Down the rabbit hole I went 😀. Here's that picture of the #moon that got me hooked on the #nightsky.

What got me into #astrophotography? Sitting in my backyard taking pictures of various wildlife like this #downywoodpecker catching a meal. Captured with my #Lumix G9 at 400mm, f/8, ISO 1600, 1/60s.

There are quite a few different objects in this image. One that caught my eye is in the upper left, right at the top of the image. At first I thought it was a star, but when Star Xterminator didn't remove it, I took a closer look. Turns out it's a #planetarynebula! Can you find it in the image?

No new photons of my own. However, @sadrastro.com provided a dataset of the #northamericanebula and #pelicannebula taken at their remote observatory. Also, www.setiastro.com just released the "Perfect Palette Picker" tool. Here's the image I created.

In the center of the #heartnebula lies Melotte 15, a young cluster of stars whose stellar winds and radiation give rise to the fantastic cloud formations and structure. 8.5 hours of Ha/Oiii data taken with my 8" EdgeHD and 294MM Pro.

This is a target I go back to nearly every winter. Bode's Galaxy (M81) shot with my 8" EdgeHD, 294MM Pro and Chroma LRGB filters. To the left is Holmberg IX. This is about 16.5 hours taken over a few nights in February of 2023.

Here's something a little closer to home. I took this image of #Jupiter in 2022. Image is composed of the best 25% from each of 5x90" SER files. Stacked in AS!3, wavelets in R6 and de-rotation in WinJUPOS. 8" EdgeHD with a 2x Televue Barlow and 662MC.

LOL... these are the first 2 things I saw. Your post asking where the bots are, and a post stating the source code for their bot is available on GitHub.

Here is one of the very first deep sky images I took. No fancy telescope or mount or filters. Just my Panasonic Lumix G9 with a Leica 50-200 f/2.8-4 zoom lens on a Sky Watcher Star Adventurer back in 2020. 4.5 hours of data.

Here’s an image of SH2-86 I did this past summer. It is composed of over 45 hours of Ha, L, R, G and B data taken with my 8” EdgeHD and Poseidon-M Pro. I also wanted to share this slick bot written by @quantumkat.bsky.social that provides astrometry data: @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social

Moonlight Magic at #WDW #animalkingdom was fantastic! Our favorite park open at night for DVC owners. Pandora is stunning and truly shines at night. Here’s Harambe:
