I’m pointing the blame squarely at @richards7370.bsky.social’s #5Albums polls for this 😂

#5DebutAlbums7074
Earnestly packaged as an ‘East meets West’ musical fusion there’s perhaps as much novelty as beauty here (sitar interpretations of The Doors and The Stones anyone?). That said, there’s more than enough magic to keep it on the right side of kitsch.

I’m no authority on early 70’s Zambian psych, but I do like a bit of WITCH... ‘Introduction’ was a fine debut with elements of blues, funk and space rock. The band’s current incarnation is immense live. #5DebutAlbums7074

In a crowded field of krautrock contenders for #5DebutAlbums7074 this one veers a little too much into experimentation to trouble my five. Fun to revisit and a cracking outro though.

Of all the #5DebutAlbums7074 candidates, I’m most excited to revisit Fairfield Parlour - a nom-de-plume of psychedelic national treasure, Kaleidoscope. This is a big contender for points.

It's pretty routine for me to forget something obvious or add something ineligible, but here's my first draft shortist for #5DebutAlbums7074.

I’ve waited yonks for this to get a repress so delighted to see the day has (almost) come. Earlier copies go for daft money. #Parp

Next up for #5DebutAlbums1014.
Blurring the lines between Lush & The Primitives, The History of Apple Pie’s debut is a sunshine blur of fuzzy power pop.
The band boasted future-electro superstar Kelly Lee Owens on bass.

In with a shout of being my goat* for #5DebutAlbums1014. World Music is a glorious, infectious psychedelic stomp raking in influences far and wide.

*some magical word play, right there.

Ordered myself a copy of this. Cracking scuzzy, brooding psych. #NowPlaying

#NowPlaying First spin of a new arrival from earlier this week. Some lovely, fuzzy psych with plenty of krautrock references.
