If you can fit it in a visit to Middelburg or Vlissingen in the south is worth doing. The train goes direct from Amsterdam Centraal. Also the NS train app is pretty good if you’re travelling around.

I go to NL regularly for work and always enjoy it. It will be cold in January, be careful if you go on a frozen canal. Top tips.. keep moving, else a bike will crash into you and the time “half six” means 5:30 to Dutch people..
